I was listening to a message from Dr. Tony Evans called, “When God Gives You Leftovers“. It was so good I had to share my notes. If you tend to have leftover time, money, or food – you should never complain because God has blessed you. Every time you have any type of leftover, it should be a lesson to be grateful.
You ask, why pray if God already knows what He’s going to do….Why discuss it? God just go do it. Well, He’s testing you. He wants to know were you just showing up for the service or were you paying attention? Where’s your faith? On one hand there’s a question being asked and the other is the question He already answered. He knows what He’s going to do…how he’s going to do it and when He’s going to do it. If there’s a question too big for you, it’s called a test. He wants to know what you’re going to do with what you heard. Sometimes you see the multitude and not the Lord. Remember, He never goes into emergency mode. He always knows what He intends to do for you. It’s just a test. Some of you have never seen God show up because you spend all your time complaining about what you don’t have and not what you do have. God hates a grumbler. Stop talking about what He hasn’t done and remember what he has done. Oh and I love this – If God is giving you sardines and crackers get your praise on. Give thanks! Recognize that it’s just not so you can eat, but that God wants to feed you.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
God will use the insignificant. He gravitates to the insignificant. Remember, that you’re just a pile of dirt. He went to the earth…into the dirt and created the most astounding creation. Before you start thinking too much of yourself. Remember, you’re just a pile of dirt covered up with makeup, jewelry, cologne, and clothing. Don’t think because you have a nice car and a nice home that you are too good. There’s nothing but dirt going in and out of the door. Your nothing but dirt in the hands of God. He took a shepherd’s stick and made it the Rod of God to part the Red Sea. He took the jawbone of a donkey and gave it to Samson to slay a thousand Philistines. He put a sling shot in the hands of a boy to slay a giant. He’ll use the insignificant. If you are a nobody – you’re now a somebody because God will use the insignificant to do His greatest work!
Some of you can’t get out of your hole because you rob God. Don’t let your poverty be an excuse and keep it from Jesus. Give to Him! You say, but I’m poor and God says you aint seen nothing yet. He says, entrust what little you have to me! Do you believe Me enough that I can take your little and do something big with it? He’ll multiply what you have. He’ll meet your needs and give you leftovers. He’ll do exceedingly above and beyond just so you can remember Him and have a testimony.
” Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35
You’re going to get your breakthrough, but remember Him after your leftovers. Will you praise Him? Will you love Him? Will you pursue Him? Will you lift Him up? Whatever little He gives you – Remember, He did it so He can be your bread of life!
